Dentistry for Kids

10115 Hickorywood Hill Avenue
Huntersville, North Carolina 28078

Hi, I’m Dr. Holley and I’ve been at Dentistry for Kids since the day we opened! I’m originally from South Carolina but have lived in the Charlotte area since 1999. I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from South Carolina State University. I then attended the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where I obtained a Doctorate of Dental Medicine.

My educational pursuit took me to New York City where I completed a General Practice Residency at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. From there, I returned to MUSC to start a residency in Pediatric Dentistry and later decided to remain at the dental school as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. I enjoyed teaching and working in other private practices before opening Dentistry for Kids here in Huntersville, NC.

What I love most about being a pediatric dentist are the AMAZING children I treat and meet. The families are wonderful, and the children are so full of life!! I am truly blessed to see the world through a child’s eyes.

I continue to pursue excellence in my career and remain involved in organized dentistry. I am a member of the American Dental Association, the National Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the NC Dental Society and the NC Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. I serve as president of the AJ Williams Study Club in Charlotte, NC. I have also volunteered with the Give Kids a Smile Program since its inception with the Ada Jenkins Mobile Dental Unit in Huntersville.

Outside of the office, I thoroughly enjoy traveling, reading a good book, and spending time with family and friends. Aside from those things, my Maltese, Lexi, keeps me very busy!!

My co-pilots are competent leaders who coordinate the business and clinical operations of our office. Our dental team at Dentistry for Kids looks forward to providing the best possible dental healthcare for children!

M. Danielle Funny, DDS

I’m Dr. Funny, and I joined Dentistry for Kids in September of 2008. I’m a native of Elmsford, NY and a recent transplant to Charlotte, NC. As long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in science… I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare and make a positive impact on my community. My first strides toward becoming a healthcare professional were at Howard University in Washington, DC. At Howard I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry before returning to New York to further my studies at New York University where I earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 2006.

As a dental student and later as a resident, I was very active in local and international dental outreaches. My outreach interests carried me to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic where I was fortunate to provide much needed dental care to adults and children in underserved areas. It was through these community outreach ventures and my desire to positively impact my community that I focused my career path on pediatric dentistry.

Treating children and helping build their self-esteem are the most rewarding aspects of my career! I currently hold memberships in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association and National Dental Association. Just recently, I earned the distinction of becoming a fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. When I’m not treating patients, I enjoy volunteering, spending time with family and friends and traveling- of course!
