Our Physicians & Staff

As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Drs. Darab & Richardson manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions of our patients. They practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implants to corrective jaw surgery and wisdom tooth removal. They also treat facial pain and injuries caused by facial trauma.

Drs. Darab & Richardson are licensed by the state of North Carolina to administer general anesthesia and IV sedation in our office and are certified in advanced cardiac life support.

Our staff is trained in assisting with general anesthesia and IV sedation within our state-of-the-art offices. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.

David J. Darab, DDS, MSDavid J. Darab, DDS, MS

Dr. David J. Darab, a native of Philadelphia, received his BS in chemistry from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. He completed his dental degree at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduate school at Southwestern Medical School and his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX. He joined the practice of Dr. John J. Miller, Jr., in 1991. Dr. Darab is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Darab is very active in his profession. He helped charter and organize the North Carolina Dental Society of Anesthesiology and has served as their president. He presently holds office as President of the North Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is Chairman of the division of Oral Surgery and Dentistry at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Locally, Dr. Darab teaches both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support at area hospitals. He serves as co-director of the Foothills Dental Continuum, a group of dentists and specialists committed to learning and providing comprehensive care.


Paul E. Richardson, DDSPaul E. Richardson, DDS

Dr. Richardson, a native of Cookeville, Tennessee, received his BA from the University of Tennessee. He earned his dental degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed his residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Richardson served as department head for the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery department at the United States Naval hospital in Beaufort, SC, for four years. He also is a Diplomate with the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is board-certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Richardson is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the North Carolina Dental Society, the North Carolina Medical Association, the Catawba Valley Medical Society and the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
