Dr. Karen Barwick is a native of Kinston, NC. She graduated from Meredith College in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Biology and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1987 with a D.D.S. degree.
Dr. Barwick has been very active in organized dentistry throughout her career.She is a member and past president of the Alamance Caswell Dental Society; a member and past President of the Third District Dental Society, a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
She also served from 1993 through 1997 as a member of the ADA Standing Committee on the New Dentist.
In 1994, Dr Barwick recieved the NCDS Commendation Award, which is given to a dentist who is less than 40 years old and has demonstrated leadership qualities and service to the NCDS through involvement in the affairs of the society.
In 1998, Dr. Barwick recieved the Alamance Caswell Dental Assistants Society Boss of the Year award. This was one of the highlights of her career. In 2003, Dr. Barwick completed a 300-hour course in Dental Implants at New York University in New York City.
Dr. Barwick started her practice in Graham in 1987. She has been practicing in her current location since 1995.
She is married and has two dogs and one cat. Her interests include being with her family, caring for her animals, running and traveling.
